Psychotherapy is the empowerment path to change. Some problem patterns start to develop early in life or are caused by severe or repeated trauma in later life stages. Sometimes we have to pull ourselves up out of the hole before we can see where we want to go -- we just want relief from current pain and suffering. This is the path for those experiencing anxiety, depression, addiction, PTSD, ADHD, mood disorders, and many other conditions described in DSM-5.

The good news is that psychotherapy works. Eighty percent of people in therapy get better. Many people start to feel better after only a few sessions.  A key ingredient in successful therapy --accounting for most of the positive change across all treatment modalities -- is your relationship with your therapist.

A healing relationship feels emotionally-charged, and at the same time, safe enough for you to voice to your deepest concerns without fear of judgment --where you can expect respect for your privacy and confidentiality. It is a space where you can feel safe to explore deep feelings and thoughts; experiment with new ways of being and behaving; and create a new, more meaningful narrative for your life.

My therapeutic approach is holistic -- blending cognitive, experiential, and behavioral techniques to fit the individual needs of the client:

  • Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)

  • Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT)

  • Gestalt Therapy

  • Interpersonal Process and Attachment Theory

  • Clinical Hypnosis

  • Narrative Therapy

Clients on this path can expect to experience:

  • Reduced pain and suffering

  • Increased feelings of hope and empowerment in daily life

  • Increased psychological flexibility

  • Increased coping skills for managing personal distress and regulating difficult emotions
